MacKenzie Life Care Planning Experts Present A New Approach To More Effective Life Care Plans
Certified Life Care Planners Dr. Amy MacKenzie and Bryan Muench Get Published in The Journal of Life Care Planning
Tyler, TX - [April 19, 2024] - MacKenzie Life Care Planning is proud to announce the publication of a paper titled, "Establishing a Basis for Supportive Care Recommendations in a Life Care Plan Utilizing the Observed and Objective Measures of Physical Function Algorithm (OOMPFA)” in The Journal of Life Care Planning, co-authored by Amy Mackenzie, PhD, RN, CLCP, CCM, and Bryan Muench, MS, PT, CLCP. This article offers valuable insights into the development of more effective and defensible life care plans.
Life care plans, utilized to project future medical recommendations and costs, often face scrutiny over the substantiation of their recommendations. Addressing this gap in their paper, Dr. Mackenzie and Mr. Muench discuss the integration of objective data into life care planning. Their newly proposed tool, the Observed and Objective Measures of Physical Function Algorithm (OOMPFA), aims to systematically capture and interpret physical data to strengthen the foundation of care recommendations.
The paper highlights methods for obtaining reliable measures of physical function and discusses how these can be interpreted effectively from medical records and client interview. It also explores the use of observational methods when direct measurement tools are unsuitable, ensuring that life care plans are based on thorough and accurate data. Additionally, the paper addresses contemporary issues such as the challenges of using video conferencing to collect accurate empirical data.
